2021 marked the 50th anniversary of the Rothko Chapel. This milestone signified the perfect time to release my project. When I visit Rothko Chapel, I am overcome with emotion and words escape me. For now, I’ve focused on the immediate urge of wanting to create and build atop the shoulders of this giant.
The monumental canvases of faded royal purple and enveloping darkness represents to me a glimpse into a soul seeking for help while navigating life; providing me an opportunity I can’t ignore.
My name is Ean Kotard and this is my art gallery, a 1:12 scale representation of the Rothko Chapel, where 1 inch equals 12 inches.
Rothko Chapel 112 operates as an art gallery. The goal of this for-profit organization is to enable artists to expose their work at a monumental scale, on a fraction of the budget and at the Rothko Chapel – a unique location that is typically not available for this kind of event.
Only original work is accepted through a submission process. The process is accessible to any artist, working with any media. Instagram and Youtube are the main platforms for exposure but in the near future, we want to enable an immersive experience, in a bricks-and-mortar gallery somewhere in Spring (The Woodlands), Texas. In the meantime, Rothko Chapel 112 is installed in a residence.

The organization is funded privately and welcomes Patreon subscriptions to enhance operations, enable next phases of the project and most importantly, assist or fund those artists who need financial help with their projects. The work of the artists can be purchased through Rothko Chapel 112 when available.
We appreciate every visit and to keep the same spirit of Rothko Chapel, please sign our digital guestbook.
Cheers!
Ean Kotard, gallery owner.
